Introduction to BESS Energy Benchmarking

The BESS pilot web-based benchmark application makes it possible to benchmark energy performance against other European participating companies, in an anonymous and confidential way. The application has options for adjustment regard external factors like climate (heating and cooling), capacity utilization, production mix and boiler efficiency. How many companies are already participating?

 

During the pilot phase the required data for the benchmarking system will be collected by the national-sector administrator. The participating companies can submit data into the web-based application after receiving a unique identification key from their national administrator. For some sectors additional pre-calculation is necessary and you find spreadsheets used for this purpose below.

Note: The benchmarking results can be influenced by specific production procedures, the type of companies and other circumstances differing from country to country. Companies taking part in the benchmarking are in the optimum position to interpret their results best and to identify key opportunities to improve their own energy efficiency.
